Last year I compiled a round-up of my top recipes for 2014 and it was a fabulous way to relive and share what I thought were the stand-out dishes on DrizzleandDip.com, and I’m doing it again. 2015 was another outstanding year for me and I got to eat some of the most incredible food of my life at Vegas Uncork’d. I munched my way through too many burgers in New York and I ate so many outstanding local restaurants. These are the recipes that I found most delicious and have made again or plan to at some stage. These are also obviously highly recommended for you to try.
Roasted pumkin with chilli yoghurt and coriander sauce
I can’t imagine a more delicious way to eat pumpkin. The end.
Slow roasted tomatoes with mozzarella and basil
This is a divinely simply and utterly delicious salad which I adapted from Polpo (now also one of my all-time favourite cook books).
Caramelised pear and gorgonzola toasties
These are all kinds of decadent with sweet and salty flavours.
Creamy miso mushroom and eggs
This simple breakfast or brunch dish is packed with so much umami which is probably why I like it so much.
Fennel and radish salad with lemon and olive oil
I literally make this light and healthy salad ALL the time and love it with chicken or fish
beetroot falafel on toasted pita
I adore beetroot and I adore falafel so this is an all round winner for me.
Stout Hot Cross Buns
I put the stake in the ground and end my search for the perfect hot cross bun. These are it. I will make these every Easter from now on.
lime marshmallows
I found the perfect marshmallow recipe. Pillowy soft and delicious.
orange cake with orange buttercream
2015 was extra exciting because I launched my second cookbook called ‘Sweet’. Its filled with delicious sweet desserts and treats and would make a fabulous Christmas gift #justsaying. I love this orange cake with orange buttercream icing.
Smoked salmon omelette with chive crème fraiche
This is Neill Anthony’s recipe. Its inspired and completely delicious. It’s a show stopper of a breakfast dish.
Easy honey nut granola
I loved all the flavours and crunch in this recipe and so did a few of my friends who tasted it. This is now my go-to recipe for granola.
spicy caramel popcorn
I have made this recipe so many times I can’t even count. People go mad for it. It’s also a recipe I didat two of my book launch demos and definitely one of my favourites from my book.
apple and strawberry crumble
This variation of a classic crumble was one of the stand out desserts of the year for me. Served with warm home-made creme anglaise its my new favourite.
Olive oil chiffon cake
if you are ever looking for a cake to eat at breakfast, this is the perfect one. Served with ricotta, fresh stone fruit and a drizzle of honey it is exceptional.
fudge with vanilla and chocolate malt balls
My favourite fudge recipe but this time with vanilla and chocolate malt balls or Maltesers.
croque madame with spinach and smoked salmon
I loved this variation of a classic with drippy egg and on sourdough of course.
easy pork pies with apple and sage
My best.
roast chicken in white wine, herbs and garlic
This is by far the biggest recipe of 2015 and attracts a massive amount of traffic. It’s also very delicious and a few of my friends say they make it all the time now.
salad nachos with home preserved zesty salsa
I have loved working with the Ball brand as they launched their iconic preserving jars into South Africa and this salsa recipe is one I’ve made and shared a lot. Its packed with flavour and I love it in my favourite salad nachos. I’m so pleased I have a few jars on my shelf for this summer.
easy stout fruit cake
This is my gransnever-fail easy fruit cake which I’ve adapted with chocolate stout.
chicken breasts stuffed with pork, sage, and apple
This recipe turns the humble chicken breast into something dinner-party-worthy and is also pretty festive.
salmon poached in a rooibos tea broth
I made this the other day again when I had the winners of this competition over for a private cooking class in my house. They loved it.
cereal milk milkshake with caramel corn and cornflake clusters
In this recipe I include three textures of corn to create the cornflake cereal milk infusion, and the caramel popcorn and cornflake clusters.
I hope you all have a fabulous holiday if you are taking time off and thanks for stopping by DrizzleandDip.
Love Sam x
